Vocational Qualification in Information and Communications Technology (QIT) is secondary level vocational education following the official Finnish national curriculum. QIT is a compact and practical program which lasts 1,5 years. The studies are centered around software development.
The learning environment is an international environment with people from all around the world. You will have the opportunity to study and work with people from many different countries and cultures and improve your English language skills.
QIT starts from the basics of programming so previous IT experience is not required. However, it is beneficial to have a solid understanding of basic use of a computer.
The methods of studying are focused on learning by doing. Learning will be done in classes and in online environments. An integral part of studies are also student’s own software projects.
The program also consists of on-the-job-learning period where skills learned in class are put to practical use. On-the-job-learning lasts for the whole third semester so one third of studies is training in real companies. You have to get the job by yourself but we will help you to do that.
The goal of the three semester long program is to get the skills required to land an internship and your first job in a quality organization. Students are also eligible to pursue higher ICT education after graduating.
The studying itself is free as well as lunch at school on school days. However, you have to finance your accommodation, local transport and living costs. You also have to prepare yourself for the monetary requirements for study permit if you are not a Finnish citizen. The college provides each student a laptop, which students will get after they graduate.
If you are dreaming about a career in software development, the QIT program is a quick way to learn relevant development skills and to find a position at a software development company. The goal of the three semester long program is to get the skills required to land an internship and your first job in a quality organization. Students are also eligible to pursue higher ICT education after graduating.
