Towards excellence through evaluation
ISATCOVE, which stands for the International Self-Assessment Tool for Centres of Vocational Excellence, is a digital platform developed by the European Training Foundation (ETF) to assist vocational education and training (VET) providers in evaluating and enhancing their practices. The tool enables VET centers to conduct comprehensive self-assessments, identify areas for improvement, and adopt best practices from around the globe.
The ISATCOVE framework comprises 23 criteria organized into three main dimensions:
- Teaching and Learning: Focuses on the relevance and responsiveness of skills provision to labor market and social needs, support for lifelong learning, digital skills integration, and inclusivity in education.
- Partnership and Cooperation: Emphasizes collaboration with employers, industry partners, and other stakeholders to ensure that training programs meet current and future demands.
- Governance and Funding: Addresses the management structures, funding mechanisms, and strategic planning necessary for sustainable excellence in vocational education.
Each criterion is further detailed into specific indicators, allowing centers to tailor the assessment to their unique contexts and objectives. This flexibility enables institutions to focus on areas most pertinent to their development goals.
By engaging with ISATCOVE, VET providers can gain a deeper understanding of their strengths and areas needing enhancement, facilitating the creation of targeted action plans. The tool also fosters a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration among vocational institutions worldwide.
