Business College Receives Prestigious Recognition for Excellence in Vocational Education

Business College participated in a self-assessment, demonstrating strong commitment to continuous development and high quality in vocational education. As a result, we received a prestigious certificate from the European Training Foundation (ETF).

Our recent recognition, the Certificate of Commitment to Vocational Excellence, is a testament to our organization’s development efforts and desire to further advance towards European-level vocational excellence.

The certificate is significant for the development of education and, for example, in seeking partners and development funding. It serves as an excellent starting point for further development and supports our activities as part of the network of vocational education excellence units.

Thanks to the certificate, our school’s name was published in the international Registry of certified Vocational Excellence providers (https://openspace.etf.europa.eu/vocational-excellence-registry/helsinki-business-college-oy-ltd).

The certificate was awarded by the European Training Foundation, ETF, an advisory body of the European Commission that develops, monitors, and evaluates the EU initiative for vocational education excellence units.

The recognition we received is valid for three years.

For the certificate, a digital tool (ISATCOVE, International Self-Assessment Tool for Centres of Vocational Excellence) was used, enabling comprehensive self-assessment, identification of development areas, and adoption of best practices for vocational institutions.

Its purpose is to help vocational education providers evaluate and improve their operations. It allows for a deeper understanding of strengths and development areas, facilitating planning.

Additionally, the tool promotes a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration among vocational institutions worldwide.

Business College tested the tool this spring.

The working group was led by Deputy Principal Heli Huotari, and included Director Laura Sydänmaanlakka, Head of International Affairs Hilla Helasaari, Development Manager Jouni Hytönen, and Development Specialist Helena Miettinen.

“We are very happy and grateful for the recognition we received,” says Heli.
