For students

Caring about our students and supporting them in their learning process is very important to us. We want to make sure each student can achieve the necessary skills set, find employment, and become a professional. An atmosphere that is open, flexible, open to discussion, respectful and appreciative of others is vital for the well being and comfort of each member of the college community.

From these pages you get a general picture of the things you will need during your studies. And if you are not our student yet, you can take a peek at our everyday student life through these pages.

Rules and regulations

The school’s regulations apply to all Business College students, and you must follow them on school premises, at events held by the school and when acting as a representative of the school.

During on-the-job learning and demonstrations in authentic work environments, the rules of the workplace are primarily followed, if they are stricter than the school’s regulations.

  1. Behave politely and appropriately in all spaces, situations and events held by the school and on the job learning.
  2. Give everyone peace to study and work. Follow instructions given by staff and the regulations of the school.
  3. Maintain a good and safe atmosphere, be friendly and honest. Dress appropriately.
  4. Work in accordance with the schedule and follow the working hours agreed for the on-the-job learning.
  5. Arrive on time for lessons. If you are late due to, for example, public transportation being late, inform your teacher well before the beginning of the lesson.
  6. Take part in lessons, be active and do the assigned work as agreed. Mere attendance does not give you credit. Do the work, demonstrations, tests, and exams given to you yourself. Work made by cheating or plagiarism will not be evaluated. Helping another student to cheat is also prohibited.
  7. A mobile device may only be used during a lesson if the teacher specifically authorizes it. Otherwise, the device must be kept in a do-not-disturb mode and out of sight.
  8. If you are absent, take care of the backlog of work yourself. Inform your PCDP-instructor of your sick leave or apply for absence in advance according to separate instructions. In case of a minor, the guardian fills out the application.
  9. Treat the school’s goods, furniture and other property and facilities with respect. The person who caused the damage is liable for compensation.
  10. The school’s cafeteria is meant for dining customers. Lunch food may not be taken out of the cafeteria’s premises. Sign the food, drink and bread included in the student lunch at the cash register using a barcode from Tuudo or a ticket. You must pay for the rest of the cafeteria’s food yourself.
  11. If you photograph or film students, teachers, staff, or other people in the school premises, you need permission from them or their guardians in advance to post the photo on social media. This applies to on-the-job learning and the people there too.
  12. Use social media wisely because you are responsible for the content you produce there. Please do not publish or spread inappropriate material related to studies, your employer, other students, your teachers, or other staff on social media.
  13. Our school is smoke-free. Non-smoking applies to indoor and outdoor spaces.
  14. Handling, using, selling, passing on or offering intoxicants, drugs, tobacco products and tools intended for smoking (including e-cigarettes) to others is prohibited on the school premises.
  15. Appearing intoxicated or under the influence of intoxicating substances in situations related to studying, at school or the events held by it and in its area is prohibited.
  16. Bringing dangerous or potentially dangerous items or substances prohibited by the Vocational Education Act, as well as objects and substances meant to harm property or people, to the school premises is prohibited.
  17. Roller skates, skateboards, scooters, or other similar outdoor equipment nor their rechargeable batteries cannot be brought onto the school premises. Roller skates, skateboards and scooters must be left at the info to be stored during the day.

Everyone is responsible for their own part in following the regulations and being a good example. Everyone who belongs to the staff has the right and duty to immediately intervene in violations of the regulations.

Procedure in cases of violations of the regulations:

  1. Talking-to by the teacher or PDCP-instructor. This will be noted in Wilma and the guardians of a minor will be notified.
  2. Talking-to by the teacher’s or PDCP-instructor’s supervisor. This will be noted in Wilma and the guardians of a minor will be notified.
  3. Talking-to by the education management. This will be noted in Wilma and the guardians of a minor will be contacted.
  4. A written warning from the principal for serious or repeated violations of the regulations (at least three citations). Before giving a written warning, the students, and in the case of a minor the guardian, must be heard.

A minor’s temporary expulsion for maximum of three months is decided on by a multi-member body set by the educational organizer’s municipality based on the principal’s proposal. Before dismissing a student from the educational organization, the guardian of an underage student must be heard.

An adult’s temporary expulsion for maximum of three months is decided on by the principal. Temporary expulsion for maximum of one year is decided on by a multi-member body set by the educational organizer.

Misuse of data mediums and programs may result in restrictions related to the use of the school’s network or a (temporary) prohibition of use.

A student’s participation in teaching can be denied for a maximum of three working days if there is a risk that the safety of another student or someone working in school, or another learning environment will suffer due to the student’s violent or threatening behavior or in case teaching or related activities would be unreasonably difficult due to the student’s disruptive behavior.

All cases of violation or the regulations will be recorded in the student administration system. The entry is recorded by the person who gave the talking-to, the person giving the decision or warning related to the right to study.

The school’s staff has the right to order a student to leave, and the principal, teacher or guard have the right to remove a student from an event held by the school or the school premises, if the student behaves in a disruptive manner, does not follow orders to leave or whose right to study has been suspended. The authorities can also be called to the premises if necessary.

Rules and Regulations have been approved by the executive board on 10th of June 2025.
